Buck Creek Campground

Buck Creek Campground is way out on the Suiattle River Road outside of Darrington, WA. It’s one of the more rustic campgrounds I’ve seen. If you like the conveniences of a reserved camping spot and access to at least a vault toilet, but want to be in the thick of nature, then you are in for a treat here.

Yes, it’s a long drive out there, but I am telling you it’s worth it. There were no campers when I was there on a Thursday just checking out the place. 29 nicely spaced campsites line the banks of Buck Creek offering views and access to the water. However, a few are set back a bit with more of a woodland setting.

I enjoyed exploring some really large boulders throughout the campground and finding some pretty waterfalls gushing out of a huge log jam. Buck Creek is fairly wide and shallow this time of year and offers several safe spots to play in the water. Also, the hiking trails nearby are plenty and hardly ever busy.

Location:

From Highway 530 drive 16 miles up the Suiattle River Rd to Buck Creek Campground on your left.
