Wow, just wow! Exploring this section of the Sauk River is an experience that will stay with you and keep you longing to come back. There is just so much beauty to take in and it calls to you from every which direction.
Getting there isn’t too difficult either. You follow the Old Growth Reserve Trail, keeping left, about a half mile until you reach sand. Keep right from here and you will reach the river bar. There you will find incredible views, so many interesting stones, animal tracks to follow and incredible fishing access.
My husband and I found an old car and dinghy buried in the sand while exploring. We ended up staying there until sunset taking pictures and combing the beach for treasures. We were glad that there was ribbon tied to tree branches to help us find our gateway back into the old growth forest toward the car. As sad as it was to leave this heavenly place behind.
