Flower World is located in Snohomish, Wa and is truly a gardeners paradise. It was opened in 1968 by John and Marijke Postema. It started as a four acre facility selling plants wholesale. The public portion of the facility now covers fifteen acres and requires a map to find your way around. You will find paper maps in mailboxes strategically placed throughout their property.
The first thing you will notice about Flower World is the parking lot. You won’t find an expanse of pavement carefully marked out in block style. What you will find is a wooded area that has lots of native foliage to create an experience that makes you feel like you are parking in a garden. Your not shopping for flowers anymore, now you’re thinking backyard garden oasis.
You can find just about any plant you could ever want at Flower World. Their selection is staggering. They have everything from tropical plants to native plants. Find yourself a Venus fly trap or an antique variety of apple tree for your back yard. They have it all.
After you’re done combing the isles and have loaded your purchases into your vehicle, take a walk through their gardens and petting zoo. The gardens feature not only gorgeous foliage, but fountains, water wheel, and other water features. Follow the path out of the garden and across the road and you will find a petting zoo with adorable sheep, goats, peacocks, ducks, chickens, and so much more.
When you’re done frolicking with the animals, visit Maltby Produce. This store specializes in locally sourced organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Beware this adventure can easily take up a large portion of your day, but what a great way to spend it. This locale is kid friendly, but you may want to leave your dogs at home.
