I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never stopped at McCollum Park before today. The park is just off they Highway on 128th in Everett, Wa. The park has so much to offer including a public outdoor pool, BMX bike track, outdoor laser tag field, playground, hiking trails, sports fields, DUI Victims Memorial, Northwest Adopt-A-Stream Center, and a Washington State University Extension Campus.
Northwest Adopt-A-Stream Center is a non-profit Foundation that focuses on environmental education and stream restoration. They are currently hosting Swamp Lantern Festival. Visit their event calendar to learn more about all that the Northwest Adopt-A-Stream Center has to offer.
The Washington State University Extension Campus is another really cool facility. They have a variety of classes with a focus on sustainable living like growing a garden, preserving jams & jellies, tractor safety, and beekeeping. They also host 4-H programs.
The hiking trails around the park start from the parking lot on the South side of the park. I was impressed by the trails. The 1.2 miles of trail are well maintained and scenic. They feature old growth stumps and streams. You will also find an array of indigenous ferns, wildflowers, mosses, trees, and other foliage. This trails are both dog and park friendly.
It’s a fantastic place to go for a forested walk without having to get out of town.
