With spring on its way, I decided to try a paddle board yoga class to get more acquainted with paddle boarding. This adventure really works your core. I’ve taken the class twice. Both times I felt really unstable at first, but it gets better as you get used to it. Once we got our “sea legs” Carly, owner of Catalyst Yoga, guided us into our yoga poses. There was a wide array of skills in both of the classes I attended. Some people standing on their head while others (like me) struggled to get into warrior one. I have poor balance and I’m not very flexible, but luckily Carly has a lot of variations that I could use. Despite my challenges, I had a great time. It was so much fun it hardly felt like a work out until the next day when I felt those sore muscles.
Trying something new like paddle board yoga can be nerve racking and you may have some questions. I sure did. What happens if you fall off your board? The instructor will walk you through how to get back on before you launch your board.
If you are worried because you are out of shape or you haven’t tried yoga or paddle board before, don’t be. I’m a fluffy forty and these classes were my first experience with paddle boarding. I saw people of all shapes and abilities in my class.
