Sitting at the South hand of the Hood Canal bridge is Salsbury Point County Park. A nice spot to stretch the legs after some long, cramped road tripping! That’s precisely what my friend Lindsay and I did and we certainly got more than we expected.
This is a great access point to a nice, long stretch of rocky beach along Puget Sound. We caught hermit crabs and combed the shore for shells and other treasures. There was also a boat launch with a dock that would be great for crabbing or trying your luck on some flounder. Up the hill is a playground that’s a little worn, but unique with a giant ship to let the littles play in.
The views from the whole park are spectacular. You have full sight of the Hood Canal bridge and the coastline beyond. It was well worth the stop, plus the drive through Port Gamble is just gorgeous.
